The work included the design for a new raw water intake structure, a concrete sand settling basin, and a new 8-foot diameter wetwell. The existing mezzanine inside the pump house was expanded in order to house a new compressor and electrical and control panels. The project also included the demolition of existing facilities, yard and plumbing piping, and various site improvements. Construction began in July, 2019.
The Oakland Raw Water Intake project included work in Calapooya Creek, which meant working with various regulatory agencies to obtain permits for the work. HBH assisted the City of Oakland in completing permits with DEQ (401 Water Quality Certification), DSL (Fill-Removal Permit Authorization), NMFS (Verification for Endangered Species Act), Army Corps of Engineers (SLOPES Biological Opinion as well as the Nationwide Permit Verification for Endangered Species Act), and ODFW (Rescue/Salvage Authorization).
