HBH has been serving the Oceanside Water District for nearly 10 years. For the Water System Improvements project, HBH Consulting Engineers, Inc. was retained to provide funding assistance, preliminary design, engineering design, bidding, and construction services for over 25,000 feet of main waterline ranging from 6-inch to 12-inch pipe. The project also included two reservoirs, two water intakes, two water treatment plants, and two pump stations.
As part of the overall project scope, HBH has secured $8.1 million in funding from Business Oregon/IFA, obtained necessary conditional-use permits and geological hazard and county ROW permits. In addition, HBH performed an environmental review that enabled the project to qualify as a categorical exclusion.
During engineering design, the Water District elected to add building space for one of the treatment plants and convert an existing building into a district office and public works operations. Stakeholders included Oregon Department of Transportation, Tillamook County, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Oregon Health Authority, citizens, and tourists. While the project was slightly over budget due to the building addition at the request of the Water District, HBH's fee was significantly under contract amount. The project was completed on schedule in 2018.
